BY SUSHONE SEMPELL – Maui Longboards teams up with Ben Aipa, one of the most influential surfboard shapers in surfing, to produce a Limited Edition Autographed Ky-Mani Marley Art Surfboard.
There will be only five limited edition boards made that will be auctioned off to raise money for Love Over All Foundation (LOAF), a non-profit charity founded by Ky-Mani Marley, son of the legendary Jamaican music artist, Bob Marley. LOAF provides programs and distribution of grants that help promote positive change in low socioeconomic communities. Grants are focused on education, music and sports for the youth and are distributed worldwide.
LOAF also provides support in the development of sickle cell and diabetes research.
“From my heart, it is my wish to help the disadvantaged youth in the state of Hawaii through my Foundation and through collaboration with local organizations. We will use a majority portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Ky-Mani Marley Limited Edition Art Surfboards to assist in providing programs that would benefit homeless and runaway youths in the areas of music and sports. I don’t surf, but it would be exciting to try and ride on one of the sold Ky-Mani Marley Art Surfboards. I look forward to a great Hawaiian concert tour and I hope to open doors for my foundation to do good things for the island community,” says Ky-Mani.
The Limited Edition Art Surfboard will be displayed and sold during the Ky-Mani Marley concerts on Oahu and Maui. All bidding starts at $1,000 and winners will be immediately announced at the close of silent auction. For more information regarding LOAF, visit www.loveoverall.org
