There will be a special session of the Hawaii legislature to consider the nomination of Honolulu District Court nominee James Ashford.

The hearing will be Friday, August 2 at noon and a special session on Monday, August 5, at 11:30 p.m.

Ashford is likely to go through the Senate confirmation process with no opposition.

There will be another special session to fill the vacancy of the Maui Circuit Court after Gov. Neil Abercrombie puts forward his nominee.

So far lawmakers have no plans to take up the issue of legalizing gay marriage during these special sessions.
