Locally Produced Film ‘Fishing Pono’ Debuts Tonight at Maui Film Festival

Hawaii attorney/movie producer Teresa Tico and Hollywood writer/director Mary Lambert who will debut their movie, Fishing Pono, at the opening of the Maui Film Festival on Wednesday, June 12, in Wailea.

The World Premiere of Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau will also be shown.

Tico, who produced the film, said: “I cannot tell you what an honor it is to be selected for this prestigious festival, and to be screened on Opening Night along with the story of Eddie Aikau, a person close to my heart and for whom my heart still breaks. Director Mary Lambert and I are truly humbled to premiere our film on Maui. We look forward to bringing this important story to the world.”

The screenings for both films take place at the Celestial Cinema, an enormous outdoor theater on the greens of the Wailea Golf Course.

Some 3,000 people are expected.
