BY DONNA SWEERE – This is truly a tragic day in America when the foundation of our free and open society is shattered by a mad man’s decision to murder others.
John Boehner said it well, “When one of us is attacked, we are all attacked.”
Even though left-leaning blogs and reporters immediately blamed all groups who disagree with their ideology as the instigators, we can know in our hearts that TheTea Party Movement proved itself peaceful and civil in every part of the land. Those groups that accused The Tea Party of being violent had to back down when millions of members continued to gather peacefully.
Grassroots Americans made their most potent statement at the ballot box. When citizens can use words freely and vote there is no need for violence.
The Founders studied the troubled history of mankind, read the great historians as well as the Bible and astonished the world with a system that serves the People, is self-correcting and enduring. Samuel Adams pointed out that, “…neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt.” That is why this nation was founded on Natural Law and obedience to the Creator for “right conduct.”
We cannot credit ourselves with perfection but we can be unspeakably proud that with only a few exceptions this nation has passed the power peacefully in the succession of presidents and legislators for 230 years.
It has been alleged that this murderer has a history of mental illness. His favorite books are said to be The Communist Manifesto, Mein Kampf, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
He has been described by his high school friends as being quite liberal.
Reporters say that he burned a U.S.Flag in one of his videos and that he does not believe in God.
The extremes of government are described on one hand as completely controlled by the people (anarchy) and on the opposite end of the continuum as completely controlled by a ruler or group of rulers (totalitarianism).
Socialism, fascism, and communism reside near totalitarianism and a Constitutional Republic takes its place near the center. This is very important to know because left-leaning blogs and many in the media have already begun and will continue to excoriate The Tea Party movement for this event.
We can do what we have always done…turn our saddened hearts to the victims and pray for them, their families, our Country, our world and ourselves. We can re-commit ourselves to the virtue, morality and decency that is in our DNA and that our forefathers gave their lives to protect.
We are The People:Â the glue of the Republic and the heart of this great nation.
