NAVFAC Marianas Awards Task Order for Wharf Improvements at Naval Base Guam

APRA HARBOR – Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas awarded today an $11.7 million firm-fixed-price task order under a multiple award construction contract (MACC) to Bulltrack-Watts, a Joint Venture of Marysville, Calif. for repair and modernization of Sierra Wharf at Naval Base Guam.

The work to be performed provides for sustainment, restoration and maintenance repairs to waterfront facilities at Sierra Wharf to allow berthing of various Navy ships. The project elements include level III above and under water structural inspection, repairs to sheet piles, cathodic protection, concrete cap, mooring hardware, pavement, utilities and telecommunication system.

“This project will improve the Navy’s ability to safely and efficiently berth ships and submarines at Naval Base Guam,” said Capt. Cheryl Hansen, NAVFAC Marianas executive officer. “Strong and dependable facilities are vital to sustaining efficient operations on any military installation.”

Work is expected to be completed by January 2014. The contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website with four proposals received.
