HONOLULU – Pier 1 Imports is pleased to announce the opening of its newest Honolulu store at the Ward Village Shops on Oahu, Hawai’i. The new store is located at the Ward Village Shops at 1170 Auahi Street, relocated from its former location at 1108 Auahi Street. The store will officially open to the public on Friday, Nov. 1, after a traditional Hawaiian blessing which begins at 9:30 a.m.
“This year marks our 15th anniversary since opening our first store in Hawai’i at Ward Centers; we are honored to continue our commitment to our Hawai’i customers with the opening of our new Honolulu store,” said Alex W. Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pier 1 Imports. “At Pier 1 Imports, we are pleased to offer an eclectic and fun array of affordable home décor, furniture and gifts, and we look forward to continuing to share our unique shopping experience with the residents and visitors of Honolulu.”
The new Ward Village store will be led by store manager Marivic Higa of Ewa Beach, Hawai’i and boasts 9,888 square feet of total retail square footage. The store features Pier 1 Imports’ new store concept. The store will employ approximately 30-32 part-time associates to support the new store opening; associate hours will fluctuate based on the needs of the business and the season. As the holiday hiring season progresses, the store expects to hire additional temporary associates to support the business and unique customer experience during the busy holiday season. Pier 1 Imports has three stores on Oahu in Honolulu, Kailua and Pearl City, one on Maui in Kahului, and one on Hawai’i Island in Kailua-Kona.
A traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony will be conducted by Kahu (Reverend) Kordell Kekoa of Kamehameha Schools Bishop Memorial Chapel on Friday, Nov. 1 prior to the store’s opening at 10 a.m. The ceremony will feature the untying of a maile lei, signifying the official opening of the store. Following the ceremony, the store will host a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The first 300 shoppers on Nov. 1 will receive a free signature reusable bag and an iconic Pier 1 Imports backscratcher, as well as other local surprises.
