The State agency, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, has failed its charge to provide the citizens of Maui with an upgraded facility, equipment and services to meet the needs of the growing population whether for full-time, part-time or daily visitors.

Gov. Linda Lingle testified that the Hawaii State Legislature has not provided for and has no foreseeable plan to fund Maui Memorial Medical Center to update its facility and equipment to meet current hospital standards and to meet the community
