Letter sent to Governor Neil Abercrombie:

May 25, 2011

Governor Neil Abercrombie
Hawaii State Capitol
Honolulu, HI 96813

Dear Governor Abercrombie,

I am now serving as Chairman of the Oahu Apportionment Advisory Council, a constitutionally mandated group organized to advise the Hawaii State Reapportionment Commission on matters pertaining to the island of Oahu.

There is upon your desk an emergency appropriation by the legislature (HB838) awaiting your signature to fund the functions of the Reapportionment Commission and its temporary staff positions.

I feel there is a great sense of urgency among the members of the commission and its advisory councils to proceed with the completion of the constitutionally and statutorily mandated duties which must be completed within a specified time frame.

I therefore urge you to authorize the expenditure of these funds by signing HB838 into law without delay.

Michael G. Palcic is the Chairman of the Oahu Apportionment Advisory Council
