WANTED BY KAUAI POLICE: Justin Wynn Klein

REPORT FROM THE KAUAI POLICE DEPARTMENT – The Kaua’i Police Department continues to ask for the public’s assistance in locating wanted suspect Justin Wynn Klein in connection with the attempted murder of a Japanese visitor on Sunday, Dec. 16 in Kalalau Valley.

“Our officers conducted a multi-agency search and sweep of the valley while continuing to investigate any and all tips received from the public,” stated Kaua’i Police Chief Darryl Perry. “While Klein has not yet been located, we have not given up and we’re asking the public not to give up. Your tips could help us bring this man to justice.”

A witness reported seeing Klein throw a 31-year-old Japanese visitor from a cliff in the Kalalau Valley on the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 16.

The woman was admitted to Wilcox Hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to stable condition. She was released from the hospital yesterday.

Police have been searching for Klein since the incident occurred and CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to his arrest.

Justin Wynn Klein is described as a 37-year-old Caucasian male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, with brown hair in a Mohawk style, possibly a moustache and beard, and a band tattoo around his left arm.

He is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone with information on Klein’s whereabouts is asked to call the Kaua’i Police Department at 241-1711 or CrimeStoppers, 241-1887.

Access to the Kalalau Trail remains closed until further notice.
