PBS Hawaii will rebroadcast KITV’s debate with Honolulu mayoral candidates incumbent Mayor Peter Carlisle, former Managing Director and Acting Mayor Kirk Caldwell and former Governor Ben Cayetano tonight at 9: 00 pm.
“This way, the 90-minute debate will be accessible to even more people,” said Leslie Wilcox, PBS Hawaii President and CEO. “We’re offering this in the public interest.”
Other broadcasters are also stepping up to run the debate, a collaboration between KITV and the online Civil Beat. Hawaii News Now’s three stations will air the presentation live, starting at 7:00 pm. KITV is blacked-out on cable television because of broken negotiations between its parent company and Time Warner Cable.
PBS Hawaii will resume regularly scheduled programming at 10:30 pm. The public broadcaster held its own live televised forum with the leading candidates for Honolulu Mayor last week.
