Hawai’i Children’s Cancer Foundation (HCCF) would like to alert the public that the local non-profit may be a victim of a phone scam. The Foundation heard from two supporters today that an unidentified caller is reaching out to Hawai’i residents and falsely representing themselves as someone seeking to raise funds for HCCF. This caller is in no way connected to HCCF. The local non-profit is not currently soliciting donations over the phone and never has.
If anyone receives a call of this nature, please do not provide any personal, confidential or financial information to anyone when responding to unsolicited phone calls. HCCF urges individuals to report any suspicious activity to the Honolulu Police Department.
Thanks for sharing this. I agree about not giving any personal information over the phone. Just like what the scam complaints at https://www.callercenter.com proved, the phone scams have become advanced and tricky so we should always be careful.
