BY MICHELE VAN HESSEN – Rep. Barbara Marumoto (R-19th House District) is in the enviable position this election year with no opposition in the Primary or the General Election.  She will be elected outright in the Sept. 18th Primary.   Therefore her name will not appear on the General Election ballot.

Reps. Gene Ward and Cynthia Thielen also find themselves in the same fortunate situation.

“I look forward to serving the residents from Kaimuki to Waialae Iki again,” said Marumoto.  “There are several items on my agenda that need attention.  We will continue to work on traffic safety issues, such as encouraging increased helmet use.  Requiring collection of DNA swabs from arrestees of violent crimes will prevent other tragedies, and enacting policies that produce better jobs is a perpetual challenge so we can keep our young people in Hawaii.”

“With the head start, I am already working to draft bills for the 2011 legislative session,” Marumoto concluded.
