Waikiki – Royal Hawaiian Center will kick off the 2013 holiday season with an evening of family entertainment at the newly renovated Royal Grove on Wednesday, November 27th at 6 p.m. (Thanksgiving Eve) with Kawika Trask & Friends. Santa Claus will welcome guests at 6:30 p.m. and flip the switch to illuminate the Center’s
25-foot holiday tree overlooking Kalākaua Avenue. Afterwards Santa will stay for photos at the tree until 7:30 p.m. while the group Celtic Pipes & Drums delights the audience with holiday favorites.
Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy all these festivities for free in the Royal Grove which is the heart of the shopping center and a symbol of the Center’s commitment to the history of the land known at Helumoa, once home to Hawai‘i’s ali‘i (royalty), on which Royal Hawaiian Center sits. The Royal Grove has several new garden and water features, including native plants that are marked with interpretive signage to inform guests of the history of the area and its importance to Hawaiian culture. Free performances throughout the week feature Hawai‘i’s top entertainers and halaus. For more information visit www.RoyalHawaiianCenter.com for the complete schedule.
Royal Hawaiian Center is also reminding visitors, especially last-minute shoppers, that the Center is open for regular hours 365 days a year including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Everyone is invited to enjoy this Waikīkī oasis during the holiday season where, in addition to checking off your Christmas list, you can relax at our daily Pau Hāna Jam or take one of our free cultural classes. The Center is also very easy to access, accessible by car from two points on Kalākaua Avenue, and offers the largest parking garage in Waikīkī, which makes shopping in Waikīkī a great alternative to the congestion of other shopping centers.
