HONOLULU – U.S. Senator Brian Schatz thanked Hawai‘i members of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC) today for their strong vote of endorsement. PCCC stated that most of their members’ decisions on who to endorse centered around which candidate in the race would best protect Social Security.
“I firmly believe that protecting and expanding Social Security is a duty we owe to our seniors,” said U.S. Senator Brian Schatz. “I know firsthand how critical this program is to the wellbeing of Hawai‘i’s seniors, and I couldn’t be more honored that my commitment to Social Security is why the more than 4,000 local members of the PCCC made their decision to endorse.”
PCCC named Senator Schatz a “Social Security hero” based on his championing legislation to increase Social Security benefits and extend the life of the program by making wealthy individuals pay into Social Security the same way as other Americans. One in six people in Hawai‘i rely on Social Security benefits as a key part of their income.
“Brian is the real deal progressive,” said Honolulu PCCC member Gerald. “He’s the clear choice to endorse!”
PCCC’s 4,285 local members join the more than 35 other organizations which have endorsed Senator Schatz, representing over 90,000 members in Hawai‘i.
The Senator is just looking for votes. More importantly Schatz is a rubber for the Obama Adm. Hanalei Kauai
