HONOLULU – Interim Hawaii State Senators Laura A. Figueira and Ronald D. Kouchi were sworn in by the Senate on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Senate President’s Conference Room, State Capitol Room 408. Their oaths were administered by Hawaii Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald.
Senators Figueira (District 22, Mililani Mauka, Wahiawa, Hale’iwa, Mokule’ia, North Shore) and Kouchi (District 7, Kaua’i, Ni’ihau) replace Senators Robert Bunda and Gary Hooser, respectively, who resigned their Senate seats to seek the nomination for Lieutenant Governor in the recent primary election. They will serve through the general election on November 2.
Kouchi is running in the general election to serve the remaining two years of Hooser’s four-year term.
