EWA BEACH, Hawaii  — Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health, an affiliate of Sutter Health, has received a $10,000 grant from the Public Health Fund of The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii in support of its Master Facilities Plan initiative.

The Master Facilities Plan will address the existing physical plant life cycle and capital improvement goals over a five-year time frame.  Architects Hawaii has been hired to review and assess a scope of innovations and upgrades designed specifically for the needs of the hospital’s psychiatric patients.

Approaching its 30th anniversary, Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health provides specialized care and treatment for children, adolescents and adults statewide.

Improving the quality of life for patients overall is at the heart of Kahi Mohala’s philosophy of care.  Kahi Mohala treats between 1,200 and 1,500 patients annually on an inpatient basis for depression, anxiety, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, psychotic disorders, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.  Partial Hospitalization Programs for adults and adolescents offer a structured, intensive, outpatient therapeutic milieu with both clinical and psychiatric support, as an alternative to hospitalization or residential care.

Founded in 1983 and fully accredited by The Joint Commission, Kahi Mohala is Hawaii’s only free standing, not-for-profit psychiatric hospital. Entrusted with delivering the highest standards of care, the center embraces an inter-disciplinary perspective to patient services, offering the leading approaches in emotional, physical, mental and behavioral health care treatment to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.
