U.S. employers added 192,000 jobs in March, a positive sign for the U.S. economy after an unusually cold and snowy winter that slowed growth.

The figure, which the U.S. Labor Department reported Friday, is slightly less than February’s revised total of 197,000 jobs. Revised government figures indicate employers added a combined 37,000 more jobs in February and January than previously reported.

Even with the March job gain, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.7 percent, with 10.5 million workers unemployed.

The U.S. jobless rate had been steadily declining over the last four-plus years, with the world’s largest economy struggling to recover from its worst downturn since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
